craft therapy

Yesterday my friend Lety invited me over to her casa for an afternoon of sewing and gabbing , of course. She is an accomplished seamstress herself and artistic and just plain fun. We decided to make Heather Bailey's fruit pincushions out of beautiful scraps of fabric from the shop where we work. She has quite a work set up in her home which made for easy cutting and sewing and general spreading out. We had so much fun and ended up with a beautiful and functional pear and tomato ( though my tomato looked like a red pumpkin ) ! Then it was time to pick up kids and go run errands and get back to our routines . What a nice day with a lovely friend. Till next time, Susanne

one stitch at a time

Good morning ! It's cold out there but its spring inside ! I have been quilting up a storm and loving every minute. I have three quilts in the works, an Amy Butler baby quilt that screams baby girl, an Anna Maria Horner folksy flannel quilt and a hexagon quilt that just looks fun. Who has time to work, cook, clean the house when there are projects like these out there! I do occasionally stop, have a cappuchino and peruse magazines for more inspiration. Seriously I just started quilting last October and it is wonderful, mindful therapy. It is the quiet hum of creativity, straight from the Master Creator himself, and I love it. So, hope you are  happily creating yourself and hope your day is warm and lovely.xxxooo  Susanne

room love

I do love this room ! It just makes me happy with all the bright tones, the fun artwork, the blocked panels. After living in very dark houses most of my life, I seek the light. If there's a ray of sunshine streaming in, you'll likely see me or my little pup sitting in it, hogging all the warmth and deliciousness of it. I like the pops of turquoise in the garden stools and lamp. It looks like a candy jar full of wonderful foil wrapped candies.( I just started Weight Watchers , so excuse the food references !) With that I bid you good day, hope it is a great one. xxxooo Susanne

Snuggin In

The house is quiet and I am having a great cup of coffee and reading one of my favorite maggies .The bareness and quietness after the colorful, chaotic holiday season is nice, but my instincts tell me to add color....be it flowers, a new mosiac quilt, maybe a pretty linen tablecloth or  towels in soft colors. Whatever the new addition, it is welcome. We have a long way till spring and now is the time to hunker down and snug in! I'm definitely a nester, I drive my darling husband crazy moving things around and getting things just right. He calls it puttering... I call it ,well..... puttering too! I was going to give it a more dignified name but there it is !Well until next time, curl up with your soft throw, have a cup of something good and stay warm.    Susanne

Hooray, I'm here !

I'm finally here, so glad to be here, so glad you've dropped by. I hope to inspire you and be inspired by you. My many loves include working with beautiful fabrics, painting, journaling,  knitting ,anything creative.... that is when I am my happiest. This week-end I trounced on my Anna Maria Horner Folksy Flannel fabric and have great plans for a warm and cozy throw....so excited! There is something just so wonderful about the colors she uses, rubies, citron greens, plums, dusky blues, tangerine , okay I know I am getting carried away ! A friend found a nice wool batting to put inside ( we do have cold days here in NW Florida ). I've also started a hexagon quilt too that is fun to pick up and put down during these cold , dark winter days. Anyway, I just enjoy the handwork and the endless possibilties of doing something I love. Well, thats all for today, Happy Creating.
'Til next time...
Susanne
